About the book:
Author: Wendelin Van Draanen
Genre & Age Group: Contemporary, realistic fiction, young adult
Flipped is a romance told in two voices. The first time Juli Baker saw Bryce Loski, she flipped. The first time Bryce saw Juli, he ran. That’s pretty much the pattern for these two neighbors until the eighth grade, when, just as Juli is realizing Bryce isn’t as wonderful as she thought, Bryce is starting to see that Juli is pretty amazing. How these two teens manage to see beyond the surface of things and come together makes for a comic and poignant romance.

Review: This book is so cute and intriguing, so much that I’ve read it twice! This book was actually one of the first young adult books I’ve ever read, and I really enjoyed it! This book is basically about a seven year old girl who witnesses a new neighbour moving in across the road, a boy about the same age as her, and she instantly develops feelings for him, but he feels the opposite way and detests her. Of course, the story is not about their seven-year old selves, but about their feelings for each other when they become tweens/teens. Their feelings remain the same for most of the story, but closer to the end they flip and Juli starts to get over Bryce, while Bryce starts to like her! Pretty interesting, right? This book would be an amazing read for tweens and teens who are starting to develop crushes and such feelings, because it’s very relatable in the sense of the flip! The characters are very relatable and help you sink into the book, and the writing style is phenomenal! It is also a very fast read coming in at just over 200 pages, so you will be able to gobble it up in almost no time!
