Top Ten Thursday #34

Hi everyone!โ˜บ๏ธ

It’s 2017! Well, it has been for 5 days already, but I just wanted to wait until this Thursday to post this, haha๐Ÿ˜‚. I hope you guys all enjoyed 2016, despite some of the, let’s say, controversial events that went on. But now it is a fresh new year, and thus a fresh new start, which leads me to this week’s topic of bookish/bloggish new year’s resolutions!

So let’s get on with it, shall we?

  1. READ MORE DIVERSELY

I am aware that this is also a resolution of many other bloggers, but I believe that it’s just so important, and nothing satisfies me more than a nice, diverse read that escapes me from my typical suburban life.๐Ÿ˜„ย  I want to start reading some more about other cultures, countries, LGBTQ+, mental health, and even more!

2.ย WRITE MORE DISCUSSION POSTS

Looking at my blog now, I have just realized that I have only written *shudders*… 6 discussion posts. (You can view them here.) That must change! I LOVE reading them, so I really want to find some more love in writing them! I do have a couple ideas, but it’s just so hard to write a long discussion about them.

3.ย READ MORE FANTASY

I have already been (attempting) to work on this, but I’d like to explore more of the fantasy genre this year in 2017. Many of my blogger friends rave about numerous fantasy series such asย ACOTAR, Throne of Glass, The Raven Boys,ย and more, so I may just give them a try to see what all the hype’s about!๐Ÿ˜‰

4.ย CHANGE MY BLOG’S NAME

Sometime in 2017, I will probably be changing my blog’s name. When I first created my blog, the naive girl I was thought I needed to use a username, so I settled on the hardest to remember, least creative name,ย Kdrewkthebookworm.ย I do have a few ideas of cute new names to use, so hopefully sometime soon I’ll pick one and use it! I will definitely give you guys a heads up when I am changing my name so none of you are confused.๐Ÿ‘

5.ย TAKE MY TIME WHEN READING BOOKS

When I read, I tend to want to speed through the book, and this is why I read almost a book a day. This year, I’d like to focus on quality rather than quantity by taking my time while reading, rather than rushing through each and every story. I want to be more keen on the fact that reading is not a race, and that nothing bad will happen if I don’t complete a book each day.๐Ÿ‘

6.ย TAKE BLOGGING BREAKS WHEN I NEED TO

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you may have realized how often I post, which has recently been every day, and in the past, every two days. Especially with exams coming up at the end of the month (help me!๐Ÿ˜ ), I want to be able to realize that there is no harm in taking breaks every now and then, especially when I need to focus on more important things, such as schoolwork. *With that being said, I may be taking a bit of a hiatus at the end of the month to the beginning of February, but we’ll see how many posts I can manage to schedule between now and before I need to take off for exams. I’ll let you know closer to then!*

7.ย FINISH MORE SERIES

As of right now, I have 17 series that need to be finished. I have tried to limit the amount of series I start by not allowing myself to start one until I’ve finished another, but my self-control has gotten into the way๐Ÿ˜œ . I feel like I lose track of series easily when I read too many different books in between each instalments, so I’d like to try to read them closer together whenever I possibly can.

8.ย NOT FEELING PRESSURE TO REVIEW EVERY BOOK

Lately, I have been feeling pressure to review EVERY SINGLE BOOK I read, even if I can barely find the words to use to write one. I don’t usually review sequels on my blog; I usually do on Goodreads, but I sometimes do feel the pressure to write a long review to be posted on here. (More on this here.) Reviewing every book is one of the reasons why I have been posting daily, but I think it would be healthier for me to go back to how I was before in reviewing only the books I actually have something significant to say about.๐Ÿ˜ง

9.ย WATCH MORE BOOK-TO-MOVIE ADAPTATIONS

In tags and awards I’ve received, a common question I get is “what is your favourite book-to-movie adaptation?” I usually find it hard to answer, as I have only recently seen one, which wasย Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.ย In 2017, though, I hope to expand my horizons with watching some more adaptations, starting with new releasesย A Monster Callsย andย Before I Fall,ย both of which I recently read and enjoyed.

10.ย AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, READ MORE TOMES

I have always been intimidated by long books, and by long, I mean 500+ pages. I just feel like they always take a while to read and that the lengthย often indicates there being many slow parts of the story, so I often tend to stay away from them. This year, though, I want to try to read some more of these ‘long’ books, such asย Winter,ย the next instalments ofย Harry Potter, Illuminae,ย and more.

So that’s a wrap with my 2017 bookish new year’s resolutions! Boy, it’s great to have it all off my chest and onto paper a screen so I can remember them! I will more than likely update you guys on how I did at the end of the year (ahhh, that seems so far away now!๐Ÿ˜ฌ )

So tell me, what are YOUR bookish new year’s resolutions for 2017? Do we share any of the same ones? What are some of your resolutions in general? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!๐Ÿ’œ

I don’t even know how I manage it, to be honest…๐Ÿ˜‚ many of the books I read are as short as 300 pages, so I speed through them, haha!
And I definitely agree about the discussion posts! I really want to write more of them!
      Thanks so much, Alex!๐Ÿ˜„

Loved your resolutions. And I can totally relate to many of them, like writing more discussion posts, watching more movie adaptations.
500+ paged books might seem intimidating at first but, if the plot is good, they pass by in a blur. I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading them.
    Awesome post

This is an ambitious list but I know you can do it. I’m also happy to see read more diversely. If you need recommendations you should definitely follow NAZ over at http://readdiversebooks.com/ if you’re not all ready. Also discussion posts are the way to go. Love seeing people thoughts on different topics.

P.S. Taking a blog break is good for the mental help. So do it when you feel it’s necessary.

    Great Post ๐Ÿ™‚

Awesome resolutions! A book a day, though? That’s insane. How do you do it?!?! I agree that it’s oaky to not review every book that you read. I think that saves a lot of time and sanity. Also, I’m liking forward to seeing your new blog name ๐Ÿ˜€ Hope you achieve all your goals ๐Ÿ˜€
