So, it’s 2018! Happy, happy new year! I hope this first day has been treating you all amazingly so far!🎉🎉
Here is my reading wrap up for the year of 2017. I have to say that it went a lot better than I thought it would, especially considering that it was my first full year as a high school student. First things first, I would like to applaud all of the children’s books I have around my house that helped me achieve my goal of reading 200 books. Thank you! If it weren’t for all of you, then I would have been left at the end of December whimpering because I would have been around 50 books behind on my reading challenge. Or, more logically, I probably would have decreased my goal. But what can I say, I’m an overachiever!😆 If you would like to view my wrap up interactively through Goodreads, here is the link! So let’s get recapping!
First things first- how much did I read?
This is 58 books less and 21,252 less pages than last year. Over 20,000 PAGES less?! I blame the children’s books. Shame on you, children’s books.
Anyway, I will be setting my reading challenge for this year to be 52 books- one book per week- as I get more and more homework thrown on top of me. If I finish this by June, then I may extend the goal. Or I may not. Depends on my mood.💁
How long were my reads?
I haven’t really been wanting to read long books lately, so mostly I’ve been picking up short and breezy reads. This is why my average length for this year is a tad shorter than last year’s (289). And yes- I finally picked up The Book Thief this year! See my review here.
What were my most and least popular reads?
Wow, I killed two birds with one stone with the amazing The Book Thief! It counts as both my longest and most popular read of 2017! And my least popular read was an ARC that I didn’t love, so I am not surprised that only four other Goodreads users read it this year.
Average rating? Highest rated read?
Uh oh- that average rating isn’t the greatest. That 3.7 star average is proof that a) I have been picking up too many mediocre books and/or that b) I have just been becoming a picky little monster. Oh my gosh, this saddens me so much!
It kind of surprises me that Summerlypse was my highest rated read of 2017. I mean, it was a really good book which I rated 4 stars, but I had no idea that others were devouring it. It’s probably the awesome Mexican setting that’s drawing people in, but honestly, I haven’t a clue.🤷♀️
What was my first book/review of the year?
Oh, Firstlife. Beautiful, beautiful Firstlife which got 2.5 stars and a ranty review from me. I was so disappointed that I’d started 2017 off on a bad note with a painfully mediocre read!
What did I read this year?
I won’t leave you all hanging- here are ALL of the books I made my way through this year!
**Please do not judge me for the multitude of children’s books I read to enhance my reading challenge!!**
