If you were an active internet user during 2014, then you may remember Alex from Target. If not, he was a Target cashier in the US, and a girl took a photo of him while shopping at his branch, posted it online, and it went viral. When I found out that #famous had a very similar storyline to that of Alex, I was all for it. Books about social media do not fail to make me happy!

Fortunately, I really enjoyed #famous. Although I found the storyline to be a little less realistic than that of Alex from Target, this was a charming and fun novel that I know I would recommend to other readers.

Kyle, the character in the story akin to Alex, was quite pleasant to read about. He was so innocent and cute and I think he can count as one of my new book crushes! However, I found Rachel, the other protagonist who originally posted the viral snapshot of Kyle, to be a bit of an annoying nuisance at times. To say that I warmed up to her by the end of the novel would be an overstatement, but she was definitely… an interesting character. Additionally, there was a little bit of a love triangle involving her, so that definitely bothered me a bit.

To cap off this short but sweet review, I thought that #famous was such a light-hearted, warm, and adorable read! The male protagonist is super cute, and pushing aside the somewhat bothersome female protagonist, the storyline was captivating and will not fail to capture potential readers. This novel is perfect for teen readers because of the relatable texting and social media aspects of it- it deserves to be picked up by a multitude of people and to become extra #famous!
