Mystery Blogger Award 8.0

Hi everyone!😊

Welcome to my 8th Mystery Blogger Award! This time I’ve been nominated by the amazing Sam @ River-Moose-Reads! Thanks so much, Sam, I really appreciate it!💘If you haven’t taken a look at her gorgeous blog, then what are you waiting for?

So let’s get on with it!👌

The Rules:

1. Put the award logo/image on your blog.

2. List the rules.

3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog!

4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link to their blog as well.

5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.

6. You have to nominate 10-20 people.

7. Notify each of your nominees by commenting on their blog.

8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify).

9. Share your link to your best post(s)

The Philosophy:

This award was created by the awesome Okoto Enigma, so be sure to check them out, too! Here is their philosophy behind creating the award:

“Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.
– Okoto Enigma

My Facts:

1. Lately I’ve been thinking about pursuing a career in sciences instead of law like I originally wanted. I don’t know, law seems really dry to me and I’m just not sure if I’m interested enough to take it on. I also may pursue a career in literature, hoping that there are some good jobs available in my future! It’s fine, though- I still have a while to decide.😊

2. I am extremely organized and I really like planning ahead. In fact, 99% of the posts on this blog are scheduled so I’m not rushing to write them at the last minute!

3. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was the last young adult novel I’ve reread in a very long time. The only reason I reread it, though, was because I had to read it for school. But I loved it, so all is good!💜

Sam’s Questions:

Would you rather drink polyjuice mixed with cat fur or be cursed to talk in limericks only?

Probably limericks; polyjuice mixed with cat fur just seems disgusting!😳

How many minutes to midnight is your TBR?

I guess it’s around thirty minutes to midnight- it’s not about to topple me over, but I do still have quite a few books on there that I want to get through. I mean, it’s only 125 books right now, so that isn’t so much, I guess?🤷‍♀️

How do you organize your bookshelf?

Since I just got a new one, I don’t have a set way of organizing it yet. I was away at a convention the weekend I got it so my parents arranged it for me, and I’ve got to say that I like the way they did it. Here’s a picture:

(My apologies, it isn’t the clearest!)

Worst bookish/reading habit?

Sometimes if I am utterly bored by a book, I will skim through it and tend to miss important details or tiny ones that come up later in the story. I know, it’s bad! If I do this, then I know that the book isn’t a 4.5 or 5 star read.🙅

(Weird/funny) – Make a closet cosplay for a book character. Put a picture (of just the outfit or of you wearing it). Why did you pick each piece?

I’m unfortunately going to have to skip this one for now. I read mostly contemporary and to be completely honest, I usually just skip over the parts where they describe what a character is wearing. And I read too many books to remember anyway, so it would be hard for me to come up with anything for this one. Sorry, guys!😔

My Questions:

1. Under what circumstances would you DNF a book?

2. Share your favourite meme or GIF!😂

3. Tell me a teaser sentence from the book you’re currently reading!

4. Tell me a little known fact about you that no other bloggers know.

5. (Sort of) weird: What song is stuck in your head right now? (if any)

My Best Posts:

I am proud of all of them and I can’t choose one!

I nominate…

1. Imogene @ Amidst the Pages

2. Emma @ Emma Janelle Reads

3. Stephanie @ Adventures of a Bibliophile

You guys have no obligations to participate if you don’t wish to, it’s ultimately just for fun! I do really look forward to reading your answers if you do decide to, though!💘

So tell me, do you agree with any of my answers? Disagree? How would you answer my or Sam’s questions? Let me know in the comments below.

The Marvel Avengers Book Tag

Hey guys!👋

The awesome Sam @ River-Moose-Reads has tagged me in the Marvel Avengers Book Tag. Thanks so much, Sam! Her blog is gorgeous and it’s full of engaging reviews and tags, so be sure to check it out when you get a chance to!💞

I am not a huge superhero fan, but I decided to participate in this tag for the fun of it and, of course, since I was tagged for it. So let’s get started, shall we?

Iron Man: A book that made you laugh out loud.

I can’t think of a YA book that would answer this question right now, so I came up with a children’s chapter book that has always made me laugh! Kids (and teens and adults looking for a chuckle) should definitely get their hands on this book.😂

Captain America: A book that sends a positive message.

Julie Murphy’s Dumplin’ is an incredibly powerful novel which sends out some great messages to its readers.👌

Thor: A book with a character whose strength you admire.

It goes without saying that Tris from Divergent has strength that is both very admirable and unbelievable!

Black Widow: A book with a kick-ass female protagonist.

Dang it, I wanted to use Tris for this one, too! Oh well, but here is the other obvious choice- Katniss!

Hulk: A book that made you incredibly angry.

Whatever made me angry on so many levels. I’d rather not think about this book, to be honest.🙅

Hawkeye: An underrated book you think more people should pay attention to.

I’m surprised that more people aren’t raving over Things We Know by Heart- it was absolutely astonishing! The reviews are mixed, but I just so happened to adore it.💘

(BONUS) Loki: A book with a twist or a surprise that tricked you.

There were so many surprises in this book- I didn’t see any of them coming! Or it could have maybe been because of the unreliable narrator. Who knows?🤷‍♀️

I tag…

1. Azia @ The Uncharted Word

2. Nihaad @ Read and Seek

3. Nathasya @ Sweater Weather

If you don’t feel like joining in, no worries! You have no obligations, but I am excited to see your picks if you do!😊

So tell me, have you read any of the aforementioned books? Opinions? What would be your answers to these prompts? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

The Halloween Book Tag//Two Weeks Late Because I’m a Rebel😈👻

Screen Shot 2017-11-04 at 11.30.25 AM.png

Hi everyone!💘

I would like to thank the amazing Icebreaker694 for tagging me in the Halloween Book Tag! Unfortunately, because I was only tagged on the day of Halloween, I didn’t get around to posting it before then, so I’m posting it now, two weeks after Halloween, because I am a rebel.😎

This was the first year that I didn’t feel like trick-or-treating, so instead me and some other friends went to a friend’s house to watch a scary movie. Well, watch is a bit of an overstatement. I get extremely bored by horror movies so I wasn’t really paying attention (oops?).

Anyway, let’s get started!👻

Carving Pumpkins: What book would you carve up and light on fire?

I wouldn’t go far as to say that, but in my opinion this book was absolutely horrible and I do not recommend it.🙅

Trick or Treat: Which character is a trick? Which character is a treat?

Trick- Regina George from Mean Girls

She is just so disgustingly fake, so it is a no-brainer that she is a trick.

Treat- Flora Goldwasser from Everything Must Go

Flora was a refreshing, unique, and quirky character. I adored her and she was quite a treat to read about!

Candy Corn: What’s a book that’s always sweet?

I have to agree with Icebreaker694 for this one and say any book by Kasie West! I have adored the fluffiness and sweetness of all of them so far!

Ghost: What character would you love to visit you as a ghost?

I’m going to say Etienne St. Clair from Anna and the French Kiss!

Dressing up in a costume: What character would you want to be for a day?

Honestly, I have no idea. Most of my reads are contemporaries so there aren’t many costumes for those characters, you get what I mean?

Blood and Gore: What book was so creepy you had to take a break from it?

I am glad to say that I do not read creepy books, so I don’t have an answer for this one.🤷‍♀️

I tag…

Anyone who is rebellious like I am and wants to complete this tag late!😎

So tell me, have you read any of the books mentioned? Opinions? What did you do for Halloween? Was it fun? What was your costume? For me, all I wore was a turquoise owl onesie! Anyway, let me know in the comments below.

One Lovely Blog Award

Hi everyone!😁

The amazing Maygin @ Diversifying Perspective, One Book at a Time has nominated me for the One Lovely Blog Award. Thanks so much, Maygin, you’re awesome! Her blog is the best, so make sure to check it out if you haven’t already!💞

So let’s get started, shall we?

The Rules:

-Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog

-Share 7 things about yourself

-Nominate others (up to 15)

-Include this set of rules

-Inform your nominees

My Facts:

1. This blog is in the process of a revamp! I have been trying to start making new graphics and reformatting some pages, and my goal is to have this blog renamed and redesigned by the start of 2018. I am no longer digging the magenta design and my blog’s header, so you will see what I have in store once it’s changed!😉

2. To add on to the name change, I ran a poll for it on my Twitter page with a few names I liked the most. Here are the results I have received:

Screen Shot 2017-10-20 at 11.50.02 AM.png

I didn’t receive too many votes, but more people seemed to gravitate towards A Bookish Paradise. We shall see!😁

3. This post was scheduled in advance, but if you are reading this at the time it was published, I am currently at a convention in Niagara Falls with a youth group I recently joined. It is in the future as I write this post, so I can’t tell you how it’s going right now… but I’m hoping it’s been fun. Anyway, the idea of the convention is so exciting!😛

4. I dislike tank tops.🤷‍♀️

5. I am pretty short at approximately 5’1, but I appreciate my small size and its many perks!💜

6. Although I am Canadian, I have never been in contact with skis. Some people who know me may find this surprising because I have a cottage that is very close to some big ski hills, but no, I have never tried skiing before! I do hope to someday, though.⛷

7. I’ve got no more ideas for another fact, so cheesy enough, this is my last one.😂

I nominate…

1. what the log had to say

2. Yarravy @ Star Crowned Book Throne

3. Wendy @ Raising My Book

As always, it’s totally fine with me if you decide to either skip or participate in this tag, but I am hoping I will still get a chance to learn more about you guys!💞

So tell me, do you dis/agree with anything I said? Are you excited for my blog’s revamp? Do you have a new blog name to support or suggest? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

Liebster Award 6.0

Screen Shot 2017-09-16 at 10.10.12 AM

Hi everyone!💜

The amazing Sam @ River-Moose-Reads has nominated me once again for something- and this time it’s for my 6th Liebster Award! Thanks so much, girl! If you haven’t gone to check out and follow her blog, then I beg you to do it now! I’ll be waiting.😎

So let’s get on with it, shall we?

The Rules:

-Thank the person who nominated you

-Answer the 11 questions they gave you

-Nominate 11 3 blogs

-Give them 11 questions to answer

The Questions:

How do you organize your bookshelves?

They are sort of a huge mess right now! I have accumulated too many books and there’s not enough space on my “bookhouse” to handle all of them, so I’ll be needing to get a new one soon. Anyway, in the top room I have non-fiction and activity books arranged in rainbow order, in the middle room I have a whole bunch of YA and middle grade books in no particular order, and in the bottom 2 rooms I have non-fiction books, activity books, and novels. Oh, and to add on, I have two unorganized stacks of even more books just across from my bookhouse. Gosh, I really need actual shelves!🙄

Do you read fanfic? What are some of your favourites?

I do not read fanfic- I am good with just reading and enjoying books and then moving on to other books with new characters and new plots. I don’t need redundancy!🙅

Favourite video game(s)?

I played them more when I was younger, but I’ve since lost interest. My younger brother, though, is OBSESSED with them. I’d say that my favourites were some of the Mario Kart and Super Mario games, along with this one iCarly game (I was in love with the show at the time). I had a DSi of my own and sometimes played with my brother on the Wii.

Give us a bookish confession?

I have told you guys the fantasy one so many times, so this time I’ll confess that I can’t listen to music while I read. It needs to be completely silent. Some say that music enhances concentration, but for me I just find myself distracted.

What blog post(s) are you most proud of?

I am pretty proud of everything except for my first posts. I cringe while reading them but at the same time appreciate how blogging has drastically improved how I write.😂

Do you collect any bookish merch? If so, what?

This is one of the downsides of not liking fantasy books- there’s so much merchandise for those books, and here I am loving contemporary novels without any merchandise that I can find in stores. If anyone knows of a contemporary book that has in-store findable merchandise, then PLEASE drop it in the comments! I will love you forever!💞

What your Starbucks order? (If you don’t drink coffee, tell us how you take your tea or something)

Tim Hortons >>>>> Starbucks! But to be serious, I don’t drink coffee or tea. Whenever I go to one of these places, I usually just get a chocolate chip cookie or muffin with some water, or sometimes in the wintertime I get hot chocolate. Yes, I am a chocolate lover! I wear the title with pride.💁

Hogwarts house, Illvermony house, and patronus?

Hogwarts- Hufflepuff😋

Illvermony– House Horned Serpent🐍

Patronus- Phoenix💁

Who is your favourite avenger and why?

I have zero interest in superheroes so I don’t have one, sorry!

What book do you wish you could have/would have read as a kid?

I feel like I would have benefited if I had read Maya Van Wagenen’s memoir Popular when I was a tween. I really wanted to be popular and I didn’t fully understand what the term meant, so had I read her book then I would have been educated on the topic and thus been able to comprehend popularity more.

What inspired your love of reading/books?

Seeing as I have loved reading for as long as I can remember, my inspiration was probably genetics. My grandmother loved to read and I think she passed the trait down to me.

My Questions:

1. Where was the last place you travelled, and when was it?

2. How many physical books do you own?

3. Under what circumstances would you DNF a book?

4. What was the last movie you saw in theatres? Did you enjoy it?

5. Share your favourite meme or GIF!😂

6. Tell me a teaser sentence from the book you’re currently reading!

7. What device do you use to write your blog posts (computer, phone, etc.)?

8. Tell me a little known fact about you that no other bloggers know.

9. If you could travel anywhere in the world right this instant, where would you go, and why?

10. What song is stuck in your head right now? (if any)

11. Give a shoutout to 5 awesome bloggers, and spread the love like confetti!😊

I nominate…

1. May @ Forever and Everly

2. Poulami @ Daydreaming Books

3. Ryann @ Ryann the Reader

I understand it if you guys are not up to participating right now, but if you do decide to then I look forward to reading your answers to my questions!💘

So tell me, do you dis/agree with any of my answers? How would you respond to my or Sam’s questions? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

Unique Blogger Award 4.0/5.0

Hi everyone!👋

Two lovelies named Marija @ Inside my Library Mind and Sam @ River-Moose-Reads have nominated me for my 4th and 5th respective Unique Blogger Awards. Thanks so much, girls! If you have a chance, then be sure to go check out their blogs because I am in love with them!💘

So let’s start!

The Rules:

1. Share the link to the blogger who nominated you.

2. Answer the questions they gave you.

3. Nominate 8-13 other bloggers and pay it forward.

4. Ask them three questions.

Marija’s Questions:

If you could cross two of your favourite books/settings/series, which two would that be?

I am not too sure what exactly is meant by this, but I’m going to assume this means a crossover. In that case, I would love to see a crossover with the characters of Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson and the characters of Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend written under Matson’s pseudonym, Katie Finn. Characters from different Morgan Matson books make cameos in other books of hers, so I would love to see her two pseudonyms cross over as well!

Which book or series would you like to have a prequel of?

I’d like to see a prequel of the Harry Potter series. I really want to know more about what Harry Potter’s life was like before Hogwarts as we only got a tiny snippet in the first book.

Which two authors would you love to see collaborate on a book together?

John Green and Morgan Matson! They are two of my all-time favourite authors and although their writing styles are very different, it would be perfect for a deep, philosophical, but at the same time adorable romance read. I’m down!🙋

Sam’s Questions:

What are your three current favourite gifs?

I am not a big gif user- I sometimes use them in tag posts when appropriate, but almost never in my reviews. I’m not even sure if I’ve used all of these, but here you go!😂

Best series to binge read/watch?

I don’t do a lot of binging, either with reading or TV shows/movies. I did not binge read or watch either of the series I’m about to mention, but I think that they are definitely still binge-worthy for those interested.

For binge-reading, I would recommend The Princess Diaries series. I am probably the only one who still reads them (😂), but despite their age, they have the absolute perfect lengths and pacing to easily whip up a bunch of them in hours. Plus, not including a bunch of novellas, there are over 10 books in the series, all of which are perfect to keep you occupied!

As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t watch a lot of TV. I prefer reality television to fictional television, but I would totally recommend the binge-watching of Full House and Fuller House. It’s just awesome to see how the family blooms and develops throughout the eight seasons of Full House and how they all come back together (except for Michelle😔) in Fuller House.

Unpopular bookish opinions?

Oh, I have lots of those, particularly stemming from my low-key dislike of fantasy books. They usually just don’t work for me, I’m sorry to say. Here are some popular books that just did not tickle my fancy (feel free to hold a grudge against me!):

My Questions:

1. Tell me a teaser sentence from the book you’re currently reading!

2. Tell me a little known fact about you that no other bloggers know.

3. What song is stuck in your head right now? (if any)

I nominate…

1. Sydney @ Fire and Rain Books

2. Liz @ Dreaming of Pages

3. Ashley @ The Infinite Library

You guys have absolutely no obligations to participate, but I would love to read your answers to my questions!💞

So tell me, have you read any of the books mentioned? Opinions? Dis/agree with any of my answers? Let me know in the comments below.

Sunshine Blogger Award 14.0/15.0

Hi everyone!😁

Two fabulous bloggers named Sarah @ Reviews & Read-a-Thons and Lily @ Cheeky Booky have nominated me for my 14th and 15th respective Sunshine Blogger Awards. Thank you both so much! Be sure to take a look at both of their stunning blogs!😘

So let’s get to it- just warning you all that this post will be a long one, so be prepared!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post or blog
  • Answer the eleven questions sent by the person who nominated you
  • Nominate eleven new blogs to receive the award and write them eleven new questions (Because I still have a huge backlog of these to do, I will only be nominating three)

Sarah’s Questions:

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start?

For the first question, I have been blogging for about a year and a half now, and I started on April 10th, 2016. I have answered the second question in almost every award post I’ve been tagged in, so I don’t really feel like doing so again- my apologies!

Which book have you reread the most? Why?

As many of you may already know, I am not a big re-reader of books. I reread an old favourite from when I was younger (e.g. Junie B. Jones) every now and again to keep up with my reading challenge when I’m in a slump, but I usually don’t reread YA novels.

Do you read more backlist or new releases? Any particular reason why?

I read a bit more backlist books– they are easier for me to find because most of the books I read come from the library.

What’s your favorite book you’ve read so far this year?

It was AMAZING!!😍

Do you have any pets? If so, what kinds? If not, what kind of pet would you want to get if you could have any pet?

I have shared this many times before, but I have a Cockapoo dog named Max! If I could get any other pet, though, I’d either get a rabbit, chinchilla, or another dog.

I love him so much!💞

What is your favourite part of summer? Why?

My favourite part of summer is being a counsellor for 5-7 year old girls at a day camp. Although it can get hard some days when the kids don’t cooperate or get along with each other, I still love it so much!💜

What’s your favourite genre to read? What do you love about it?

People have been losing so much creativity in these questions, it’s insane. I have literally answered this so many times, but to answer again, it’s YA contemporary and I love it because I really enjoy being able to relate to a story.

If you could be best friends with any author, who would it be? Why?

Probably Jenny Han because on her Instagram page, I can always catch her eating delicious treats or travelling to awesome places. I would LOVE to have a bite out of some of those foods and a trip to all of those destinations!😂

Also, her books are so fluffy and happy and I always feel amazing after I read them.😊

If you could have one more book in any series that’s finished, what series would it be? What would you want to learn or discover in the continuation?

I can’t really think of a good answer to this right now because I believe that all of the series that I’ve finished reading ended on a good note without any loose ends to be tied. But just for fun, it would be cool to have another book in The Selection series!

What do you do in your spare times (besides read)?

Another question I have responded to about 10,000 times! Anyway, here goes again:

  • Blogging (duh!)
  • Homework (I am a nerd, I know🤓)
  • Hang out with friends and family
  • Eat
  • Use social media
  • Watch YouTube videos

I’m sure there are more, but I just can’t think of them right now!

Who would you cast to play your favorite literary character? Why are they a good fit?

Okay, my apologies, but I have two reasons as to why I’m finding it hard to answer this question. 1) because I don’t really have a favourite literary character, and 2) because I don’t know many actors- I don’t watch a lot of TV or movies.

I’ll update if I find the two someones, I guess!😛

Lily’s Questions

Which Disney princess do you relate yourself with?

I think that almost any reader would say this, but Belle as she is a huge fan of books!📚

What would the world be like if you are the leader? (Be as detailed as you like)

I have an unpopular answer here, but I feel like I would not really enjoy being the leader. That’s way too much responsibility placed into my two sole hands! One thing I would do, though, is make sure that more people are reading, especially kids and teens. I’d possibly start up some reading programs so people are excited and motivated to read both in and outside of school.😊

Top 5 pairings?

In no particular order…

1. Eva and Zenn from Zenn Diagram

2. Maddie and Olly from Everything, Everything

3. Anna and Étienne from Anna and the French Kiss

4. Steffi and Rhys from A Quiet Kind of Thunder

5. Allyson and Willem from Just One Day

I am probably forgetting so many, but here are some I love and passionately ship!💘

What animal is your patronus?

I couldn’t do the official Pottermore quiz without an account, so according to Buzzfeed’s unofficial test, I am a phoenix! Here is the description:

Screen Shot 2017-09-23 at 6.01.39 PM.png

OH NO! Eric Cartman came and stole your favourite desert. What’s your favourite desert and how would you deal with it?

I don’t know who this character is, but anyway, my favourite desserts are chocolate cupcakes and I would forgive him easily if he stole them- I am that type of person.😂 I guess I’d just find something else to eat, haha!

What would you do if you won a huge jackpot from the lottery?

I would donate at least half of it to those in need, use some of it to travel, and then save up the rest of it for my future. 💸

What book do you think should be a video game?

The dystopian/science fiction book Nerve by Jeanne Ryan would make for an amazing video game. Would I play it, though? Ehhhh.

Vampires or zombies?

I am personally not a fan of either.🙅

You have the power of re-animation to bring back anyone from the dead. Who would you bring back?

I would bring back my three grandparents who have sadly passed on. I only really got to meet two of them, but I just miss them so much!💜💜

Would you be a superhero or a supervillain and what would your name be?

I’d be a superhero, but I’m not going to try to create a name because whatever it is would be cringey as heck.😂

And lastly the most important question: cats, dogs, both, or neither?

I am hands down a dog person. Cats are cute, but you can do so much more with dogs. Plus, they’re generally much friendlier!💞🐶

I nominate…

1. Kellie @ Kellie’s Book Nook

2. Keri @ Are You My Book?

3. Laura @ Shut Up I’m Reading

I know that most people have accumulated many of these awards (as you can tell by the title, I have as well), but this is ultimately just for fun. It is up to you whether you decide to participate or not, but I would love to read your answers to my questions!💜

So tell me, have you read any of the books mentioned? Opinions? Which animal is your patronus? Do you dis/agree with any of my answers? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜
