I Finally Changed My Blog Name!๐ŸŽ‰

Hi everyone!๐Ÿ‘‹

I just wanted to write up a short little post to let you all know that my days of being Kdrewkthebookworm are over! I have switched my blog name and URL to Kayla’s Book Nook, so I will no longer have to worry about cringing about my old name and you guys misspelling and mispronouncing itย (hopefully, and yes, I have noticed but I keep quiet)!

If you are still used to my old URL, then no worries- typing it in the search bar will still redirect you to my blog. It will just say kaylasbooknook.com instead.๐Ÿ˜Š

This is only the beginning of many changes I have in store for this blog. In the next couple of months, I plan to switch many things around on here. I don’t want to give too much away right now, but just know that I am super excited for what’s ahead!

Thanks so much for understanding, guys! I am exuberant to see where this blog takes me in the near future!๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Love, Kayla๐Ÿ’ž

Hi guys! I’m back!๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ’—

Hi everyone!๐Ÿ˜ƒ

It’s hard to believe that I’ve dropped off the face of the blogosphere (and I guess read-o-sphere) for almost a month now. It sucked! But today I did my last exam, which was math, and besides next Wednesday when we get our results back, I am officially done school for the summer! Woo-hoo!๐ŸŽ‰

So, let’s talk about this blog. With the exception of this month, I’d been trying my very hardest to post daily. I’m afraid that I will be switching that from now on to 2-3 times a week, or maybe even 4 if I’m feeling nice. Do you know how long it takes me to write up all my blog posts and read close to 20 books a month? If not, it takes a super long time, believe me. I want to have time to do things besides reading and blogging all weekend long, and this is why I’ll be posting a bit less.

I have yet to implement a long-term plan for this, but I’m thinking that I’ll post 1 review and Top Ten Thursday per week, and then for my third post, I’ll alternate between posting another review or a tag. Depends on how much I read and want to review.๐Ÿ™ˆ

Anyway… the moral of the story is that I’m back! I’ll just have to get back into the reading and blogging groove that I’ve lost over the past month, and then I’ll be set! Looking forward to interacting with you guys again!๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

~Kayla๐Ÿ’ž

Hiatus (Exams…๐Ÿ˜Ÿ)

Hi everyone!โ˜บ๏ธ

I just wanted to let you all know that since my exams are coming up at the end of the month, I will be taking a hiatus through to the end of June so I can focus on my studies. I will try to schedule as many posts as possible for this block of time, but I can’t make any promises.

Please still don’t be afraid to leave comments- I will get to responding to them whenever I have time. I may be quite slow to reply, but know that I definitely will as soon as I have some free time.

Thank you so much for understanding, guys! Once the bell goes on the last day of exams, I will be running right back to you all!

Au revoir!๐Ÿ’œ

WWW Wednesday #1

*All answers are as of Saturday, May 13, 2017, as that is when I had the time to write this post๐Ÿ™ˆ*

Hi everyone!โ˜บ๏ธ

Since Top Ten Thursday this week is being replaced by an ARC review, this week I decided to take part in the meme “WWW Wednesday,” which is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. For those of you who don’t know, in this meme, bloggers state the books that they have recently finished, are currently reading, and are about to read. I plan on participating in this meme every time I don’t have an idea for Top Ten Thursday.

So let’s-a-go!๐Ÿ˜‰

What am I currently reading?

As I write this, I am actually between reads, which I will touch on below. Read on!๐Ÿ˜‚โฌ‡๏ธ

What did I recently finish reading?

These were the last three books I completed. They were all four-star reads, and I honestly can’t say which one I liked the most.๐Ÿ˜Œ

10 Things I Can See From Here by Carrie Mac isย all about a lesbian girl named Maeve who also suffered from severe anxiety, and I definitely related to her in some ways. There were also many other aspects of the book that I loved.๐Ÿ’ž

Lucky Jonahย is basically a middle-grade version ofย Every Dayย by David Levithan, which is a book that I adored. I loved the morals and the intriguing plot of the book, and it was diversely crafted, as well- the male main character was gay and had feelings for boys.

Cracked up to Beย is a book that follows a girl named Parker through the end of her high school career, and she has suddenly become very depressed. I found Parker to be very interesting, as well as the situation that she was in.๐Ÿ‘Œ

I will be reviewing all of these books ASAP!

What do I hope to read next?

One of these babies! But if you’re reading this now, I’ve probably already finished at least one or two of them!๐Ÿ˜‚

So tell me, have you read any of these books? Opinions? What are you currently reading, what did you last finish, and what do you plan to read next? Let me know in the comments below.

My Dream Reading Space๐Ÿ’˜

Hi everyone!๐Ÿ‘‹

Recently,ย Arhaus.comย reached out to me and asked me to participate in a reading nook project, in which I was asked to compile some of the furniture pieces and other miscellaneous items that I would include in my dream nook. Thus, I am super excited to share this post about my dream reading space with you! Thank you so much for including me, Arhaus team!๐Ÿ’œ

Anyway, without further ado, here are the components of my dream reading nook. Enjoy!๐Ÿ˜˜

So, what would my dream reading space look like?

First, I would love to have a sectional sofa like the one below in my reading nook. I usually enjoy reading in bed, but sometimes I also enjoy it sitting on a nice, cosy couch or armchair. That way, with a sectional sofa, I could lie down and read as well as sit up and read whenever my heart desires!๐Ÿ’•

I’d also put some of my most loved stuffed animals on the sofa to brighten up the room. I know, I know, I’m a child at heart!๐Ÿ’˜

Secondly, one thing I would LOVE to have is a nice bookshelf with fairy lights attached to it. I have seen this all over Pinterest, Instagram, and on others’ blogs, and it is seriously a gorgeous sight to see. My hope is that it would look something like this:

Credit

As for the colour of the wall, I would make it a light, happy colour, such as a good shade of white, turquoise, light pink, or light yellow. Reading makes me happy, and I’d want the colour of the walls to reflect that.

A colour like the one on the walls below would be parfait!๐Ÿ‘Œ

Lighting-wise, I wouldn’t dream of anything too fancy. Maybe a small chandelier, potlights, or a pretty lamp would do the trick!

(The potlights and the lamp are both great!)

In addition to my normal bookshelves with fairy lights attached to them, I would also enjoy having some floating bookshelves to showcase my absolute favourite books. Probably one or two of them would be enough, but I’d be willing to get some more if I find anymore favourites.โ˜บ๏ธ

These types of shelves below would be perfect, as long as the books were being held up by bookends, haha! Preferably my K bookends that my dad got me for Hannukah!โ˜บ๏ธ

Credit

So there we have it, all my must-haves for my dream reading nook! This post was so much fun to put together- a warm thank you once again to theย Arhausย team for giving me the opportunity to participate!๐Ÿ’˜โ˜บ๏ธ

If you’re looking for inspiration to design your own reading nook, then definitely give the collections on Arhaus.com a look. They have many awesome products, ranging from their living room collectionsย to their lighting collections. I also found many of these pictures on Pinterest– it’s very helpful for finding inspiration as well.

So tell me, what would your dream reading nook look like? Would you enjoy having any of these pieces in it? Let me know in the comments below.

As well, if any of you have posts showcasing your current reading nook or dream reading nook, I would love to see them, so be sure to link them up below!

Au revoir!๐Ÿ’œ

1-Year Anniversary Q + A Answer Post๐ŸŽ‰

Hi everyone!โ˜บ๏ธ

On April 10th, I celebrated my first blogiversary! Along with that, I also announced my first ever Q&A, and this is where I will be answering all of the questions I received!

You guys all asked great questions, and I can’t wait to answer them! Thank you so much to all of you who participated, it means so much to me!๐Ÿ’œ

So let’s get started!

Stephanie @ TeacherOfYA asks: “What is your fave genre of all time? Like if you could only read one genre forever? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™ƒ

Contemporary, 100%! I just love any fluffy, realistic book that can lift up my spirits.โ˜บ๏ธ

Shouni @ Through the Book Portal asks: “Do you have an auto โ€“ read author? (Like an author whose book youโ€™ll read no matter what they wrote)”

I have many auto-read authors! Some of these include Morgan Matson, Kiera Cass, R.J. Palacio, my aunty Robyn Levy, and SO MANY MORE.๐Ÿ’œ

Krysti @ YA and Wine asks: “If you could give one piece of advice to beginning bloggers, what would it be?”

Similarly,ย Rosie @ The Book Cover Girls asks: “Do you have any blogging advice? What are some lessons youโ€™ve learned in your first year of blogging that you could pass on?”

My biggest piece of blogging advice would be to be yourself and to not be afraid to let out your personality on your blog. It is rather easy to tell if you aren’t being authentic, and thus it will be harder to draw in followers if you are a fake version of yourself. Go all out with your personality, and I promise that others will go all out and follow you.๐Ÿ˜‰

Poulami @ Daydreaming Books asks: “What are your hobbies? (Besides reading and blogging)”

Besides reading and blogging, I love hanging out with friends and family, reading random articles on my computer (ahem, BUZZFEED!), using social media, and studying. Yes. You heard me.ย I enjoy studying.ย I am just a learner at heart, so I love to jam information into my brain like the world is about to end, haha!๐Ÿ˜‚

Raven @ Dreamy Addictions asks: “Name three books that you canโ€™t live without?”

This question is hard to answer but at the same time quite easy- I have so many favourites, but I think I just may be able to pinpoint three ultimate, ULTIMATE favourites. Here they are:

Miss Elizabeth asks: “What advice can you give to other bloggers looking to expand their following base?
What was the funnest part about getting your blog to its current success?”

As for the first question, I’ve already answered it above, haha!

For the second question, I would have to say that the *most fun* part would have to have been interacting with other bloggers and reading their posts. Reading other posts gives me so much inspiration, and of course, I twist other bloggers’ ideas and make them my own on my blog. Also, I ultimately just love seeing what other avid YA readers are reading and talking about!๐Ÿ’˜

Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews asks: “Is there a genre you donโ€™t read much, but would like to try more?
If you could only recommend one book what would it be?
Besides reading, what are some of your favourite things?”

Similar to Lauren’s first question, Ashley @ Inside my Minds asks: “What is your least favorite genre to read and why?”

My least favourite genre is fantasy. I don’t read a lot of it, but lately I have been trying to read some more of it. I have to admit, I haven’t been loving most of the fantasies I’ve been reading. For me, I think I’m better off sticking with contemporaries and dystopians, haha!๐Ÿ˜‚

For the book recommendation(s), see my answer to Raven’s question above.

Besides books, I love technology, chocolate, chicken, pizza, French fries, my friends, my family, my dog, intellectual games and puzzles, dance, yoga, and lots more!โค๏ธ

Tiana @ The Book Raven asks: “What is the first book that comes to mind when you think of the word treasure? Also, what do you hope to be doing 5 years from now?”

When I think of the word “treasure,” I am not confined to thinking about just one book. What comes into my head are all of the beautiful books I’ve read over the years, and it is so hard to pick just one treasure out of all of them!

Five years from now, I hope to be studying law, medicine, or statistics at a good university. I don’t know where exactly I want to go yet, but as of right now, I think I would prefer to stay near my family and friends.๐Ÿ’˜

Dez @ The Fun in Reading Books asks: “Whatโ€™s the book that disappointed you big time?”

I went intoย Lost & Foundย by Brooke Davis with such high hopes, but quite frankly, I didn’t completely enjoy the book. It was kind of sad- even though it was my first foray into adult fiction, I didn’t expect everything to go over my head!๐Ÿ˜ง

Amy @ A Magical World of Wordsย asks: “Are there any bloggers whoโ€™ve influenced you or helped you along your blogging journey?”

Yes, there are SO many bloggers who I’m inspired by! Here are just a few out of literallyย dozens of them:

…and the list could probably circle around the world at least twice if I kept going! You guys MUST check out all of their awesome blogs!๐Ÿ’˜

Thank you once again for all of your amazing questions, guys! I had such a fun time answering them!โค๏ธ

So tell me, do you still have any unanswered questions to ask about me?๐Ÿ˜‚ Do you (dis)agree with any of my answers? How would you answer these questions? Let me know in the comments below.

Kdrewkthebookworm is now 1! + Q & A

Hi everyone!๐Ÿ˜Š First, here’s some blogiversary babbling for you all:

A year ago today, on April 10th, 2016, I hit the publish button on my very first post on Kdrewkthebookworm. (You can find it here, but just saying,ย cringe!๐Ÿ˜)

Throughout these past 365 days, I have improved so much as a writer and a reader. I can now write coherent reviews rather than just summing up my initial thoughts in my earlier ones, I now have a much bigger vocabulary, and I now have acquired so many new tastes in books. When I first created this blog, I usually only read contemporary novels, but now I read so much more, ranging from romances to sci-fis to mysteries.ย

I have also started receiving many physical and digital ARCs from Netgalley, Indigo, as well as independent authors. It just makes me so happy to have the privilege to be able to be one of the first to read specific books, and I hope to continue for a very long time!๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I am also literally so impressed about how much of a reader base this blog has grown. In my first month of blogging, I had how many? Five? Ten? Twenty followers? Now I have over 500, which is a number that grows almost daily. I just love all you guys and I’m so thankful for all of you!โค๏ธ

It honestly feels like I have had this blog forever, but at the same time, it feels like it was just yesterday when I wrote my first post, if you get what I’m saying.๐Ÿ˜›

I know that this blog is pretty much all about books, but I wanted to take some time to allow you guys to get to know the girl behind all these bookish posts. This is why I will be hosting…

My first ever Q & A session!!!!๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ

R4ar3.gif

So guys, I want you all to ask me questions! Any questions your heart desires! Just please keep in mind that I am a teen and that I as well have a big tween/teenage reader base, so please keep them clean, respectful, and nothing too personal.ย

I will most likely have the answers post up on or near Monday the 24th. You guys will have until Friday the 21st to submit them so I can write the post that weekend.

Thanks so much guys! I love you all!๐Ÿ˜˜ Here’s to many more years of blogging!โค๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰

Hiatus

Hi everyone!๐Ÿ‘‹

I just wanted to let you all know that as of right now, I will be going on a hiatus from blogging. As exams at the end of the month are coming closer and closer, I am going to need to focus more on my studies than on reading and blogging.

I do have a few posts already scheduled to go up between now and when my exams end, but I will not be scheduling any new content between now and February 1st. I will also not be checking my reader or any other blogs, but I will try to respond to comments whenever I can.

Thanks so much for understanding, everyone! I will see you all in February!๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’œ

My Facts

  • I have just started receiving print ARCs from Indigo, and it’s been awesome! My first Indigo ARC review, which is for Under Rose-Tainted Skiesย by Louise Gornall,ย will be up in December, and I still need to start my other ARC,ย Wintersongย by S. Jae Jones.
  • I have been posting daily recently, despite the fact that I’m in high school now and I have a lot of homework. How have I managed to do that? Well, I now write most of my blog posts for the upcoming week during the weekend, or just whenever I have some downtime. So far, I think it’s been working really well!๐Ÿ˜‰
  • 24 is my lucky number- there’s just something about it that gives me so much luck.๐Ÿ€

My Answers to Jasmine’s Questions

What do you like to do most this time of year?

Honestly, what I love to do most when fall turns into winter is curl up in bed and read a book. I love to feel all comfy under the covers, and I also like to use books to escape myself from the cold…โ˜บ๏ธ

url.jpg

Have you already planned how many books you will read next year?

Not really, but I hope to read at least 200, like I have this year.

What is your #1 goal for next year?

I’d probably have to say that my #1 goal is to just try my best and go with the flow, and see where my life ends up taking me.โœŒ๏ธ

url-1.gif

Are you happy with the direction your blog is heading?

Great question! Absolutely! I have been having a lot of fun running it and sharing my reviews and opinions with all of you guys, and the number of followers and views I’m gettingย blows my mind,ย and I only created this blog in April! I am very happy with my standings right now, so thanks so much for the support, everyone!๐Ÿ’œ

Weird: What extreme do you go to to take care of books you own?

I don’t really have any specific answer for this question, but I am hesitant to lend out my books sometimes, even though I do have 1 or 2 people whom I trust to read and return them. So, I guess that can count…?

My Best and Most Useful Post:ย I feel like my list of tips on using Netgalley has helped a lot of peopleโ˜บ๏ธ

My Questions:

  1. Under what circumstances would you DNF a book?
  2. Tell me a teaser sentence from the book youโ€™re currently reading!
  3. What device do you use to write your blog posts (computer, phone, etc.)?
  4. Tell me a little known fact about you that no other bloggers know.
  5. WEIRD: What song is stuck in your head right now? (if any)

I nominate…

As I have a lot of outstanding tags and awards to be posted, I don’t want to run out of people to tag, so I will only be tagging 3 today, which will likely be the same case with my upcoming tags and awards, as well. Anyway, here are my nominees:

  1. Poetry @ A Bookwyrm’s Lair
  2. Nini @ Nini Reads
  3. Hannah @ The Book Thief Without Words

Sorry if you’ve already done this or just don’t feel like it! I still really want to see your answers, though!โ˜บ๏ธ

So tell me, do you like the idea of this award? What would be your answers to my or Jasmine’s questions? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!๐Ÿ’œ
